Mission & Service

 Nancy Browder,  Moderator

Mission Statement

The M & S Team gathers to serve with Hope.
In practicing the teachings of Christ they:
  • Support agencies, programs, and mission trips that enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
  • Provide ongoing missions education and awareness to the congregation.

For March and April, our “dollars” will go toward scholarships for children at Camino a Canaan, our partner church. Our current M&S budget provides $2,000 that is allocated by church leaders in Guatemala. Additional funds will allow them to help more kids, add to assistance already being provided, etc. More information forthcoming from Tempe' and Elsa.
We thank everyone—especially our chefs—for making 2020 our most successful Souper Bowl ever--$2,515 donated to help Care Net feed Macon County's hungry. Though postponed because of wet and then snowy weather, “Night to Shine,” was a huge success. The organizers are grateful to all who volunteered (Patsy Clinton—Doris Munday had a conflict so folks will have to wait until next year to watch our nonagenarian dance circles around them) and donated money (our Jan/Feb “dollars.”) Next year we'll support the event with a more organized effort to collect donations of formal wear.
Remember Lent is here and with it One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS). We'll receive the offering on Palm and Easter Sundays. Lenten “fish boxes” for OGHS are available in the Chapel.

Support Empower Nicaragua

We are now taking orders for purses to support “Empower.” 100% of the proceeds go to encourage sewing classes, purchasing materials and providing jobs and skills training in a small barrio in Nicaragua. Please let Tempe’ or Nancy Browder know if you would like to place an order.
