First Presbyterian Church

growing in Faith, serving with Hope, sharing God's Love

August 12, 2022
A Message From Pastor Tempe',
This Sunday come and hear stories of why some of our members give to FPC.

Revisit Luke and Matthew’s wisdom about the treasure map of your life.

Royce Browder is leading Sunday School on the essential words of the Lord’s Prayer.

Dennis Dalgleish is  lay reader and Jim Tice is our guest Clarinetist.

Next Sunday is our farewell reception honoring Anne Tauber.

Beginning this weekend Look on our website and on Facebook to see a weekly video blog.

Save The Date: A farewell reception for Anne Tauber on August 21st following worship. Her last Sunday will be on the 28th.

UPCOMING EVENTS

August - Dollars for Mission Offering - Remember your regular offerings for the work of your congregation. Single dollars and designated gifts for our August Dollars for Mission will assist the MANNA Food Program.

August 17 - Short Story Discussion - Crabtree General Store - "The Trusty". Book available in the office.

August 21 - Dedication Sunday - We will bring forward our tithes, gifts, pledges and offerings as part of worship.

August 21 - 11:00 a.m. -
Musical Transitions - Our wonderful Anne Tauber will be retiring at the end of the month. Please join us after worship Sunday, August 21, for finger food and fellowship honoring her. A place will be provided for your cards and notes of appreciation.

August 24 - 2:00 p.m. - Sharing The Journey - M2 - Many of our elderly neighbors suffer from forms of dementia or memory loss and require constant care.  Often, they are attended by a loving family member.  Because of constant stress, these caregivers may experience fatigue, anxiety, and depression.  Joining a support group affords the caregiver the opportunity to share with other caregivers facing similar challenges.  The groups offer them the setting for sharing information, insight, advice, and encouragement.  They form a trusted group built on empathy and compassion and where the participants can share their own feelings and needs.

September 1 -
Frank Armato will be our new organist/pianist/choir director. Frank has a degree in Piano Performance and has led choirs and performed in many services and concerts. We are fortunate that such a talented musician is available to serve on the FPC staff.

SERMON

PLEASE NOTE
We appreciate the work of Jim Geary and others who have helped provide a  video presentation of our service every Sunday over the past year and a half. Please let the church know if you would like this coverage to continue. We have not seen feedback showing that many are still watching the service remotely.

Welcome Visitors

Dress as you are comfortable. We are an intimate Community of Christ, welcoming all, reaching out in ever widening circles.

Worship

10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary
PLEASE NOTE
We are now worshiping every Sunday in our sanctuary. As long as our community is still experiencing illness and death from the Corona Virus, we will safe distance in our large sanctuary. We have been using our lovely Chapel, for smaller events and acoustical benefits. Therefore, things like concerts, weddings, Ash Wednesday Service and other events continue to find a home in our historic Chapel.
