An Invitation from First Presbyterian Church
Membership in the Presbyterian Church requires a confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Members are received by profession of faith, reaffirmation of faith, or transfer of membership from another church. UPCOMING EVENTSA "Period Pantry" has been installed on the grounds in front of the church. This small pantry offers feminine products to those in need. Products can also be donated at the church Mon-Thurs 8:30-3:30 and Fri 8:30-11:30. Donations are sincerely appreciated! "What Presbyterians Believe" On September 21st and September 28th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Reverend Dr. Royce Browder will be leading the study on the history of the Presbyterian faith. This is a 2-part study offered at our church in M2. All are welcome! September/October Dollars for Mission will aid KIDS Place in Franklin, NC. KIDS Place provides hope and healing for children who have been abused and their families through coordinated services in a child-friendly place. KIDS Place is a private, non-profit agency, founded in June 1991, by concerned citizens who wanted to improve services for abused and neglected children in Macon County. Children are not housed at KIDS Place, but the center provides a home-like environment where a specially trained team of professionals can interview children about reports of abuse, preform medical exams and provide counseling. There is no charge to KIDS Place clients for counseling or other services. KIDS Place is able to bill Medicaid and other insurance companies when possible. KIDS Place is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance having been a member of that agency since its inception. KIDS Place is also a member of Children’s Advocacy of North Carolina, Inc. and an affiliate member of Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina. Sept 13 and Sept 27 - 2:00 p.m. - Sharing the Journey - M2 - Many of our elderly neighbors suffer from forms of dementia or memory loss and require constant care. Often, they are attended by a loving family member. Because of constant stress, these caregivers may experience fatigue, anxiety, and depression. Joining a support group affords the caregiver the opportunity to share with other caregivers facing similar challenges. The groups offer them the setting for sharing information, insight, advice, and encouragement. They form a trusted group built on empathy and compassion and where the participants can share their own feelings and needs. ![]() FPC Tiny Free Library
FPC invites you to visit the tiny library in front of the church sanctuary. You are encouraged to take a book as often as you like and then pass it on to someone else when you have finished it. A variety of topics is available (fiction and non-fiction) and the library is stocked weekly with new selections. The library was established in memory of former member, Martha Rainer, who served the church as an elder and chair person of the Christian Education team. |
