First Presbyterian Church

growing in Faith, serving with Hope, sharing God's Love

February 5, 2023
A Message From Pastor Tempe',
This Sunday, we invite you to share together the Lord's Supper and consider that YOU are the church. God is gratefully RESPONSIBLE and lovingly makes us responsible.

See the message in:
The great Souper Bowl Skit by Patsy Clinton-characters to be a surprise!

The liturgy of Jim McInnes and the music of Frank and our choir.

This week's video blog "I Am the Church; You Are the Church" is the background for the sermon and is available from our website and on our Facebook page. (Thank you as always Jim Geary.)

And last but not least, Sara Wood will be leading Sunday School at 9 a.m. on the lesson: "Patron Saint of the Minority Report" cf. Numbers 13 and the story on Caleb.

UPCOMING EVENTS

February Dollars for Mission will be used to aid in Utility Payments through CareNet and New Beginnings.

Feb 8 & 22 - 2:00 p.m. - Sharing the Journey -
M2 - Many of our elderly neighbors suffer from forms of dementia or memory loss and require constant care.  Often, they are attended by a loving family member.  Because of constant stress, these caregivers may experience fatigue, anxiety, and depression.  Joining a support group affords the caregiver the opportunity to share with other caregivers facing similar challenges.  The groups offer them the setting for sharing information, insight, advice, and encouragement.  They form a trusted group built on empathy and compassion and where the participants can share their own feelings and needs.

February 12 - Souper Bowl of Caring - Enjoy soup and fellowship together after church on Feb 12. Donations will go to Care Net to help feed those in need. Also, our playwright, Patsy will present a delightful skit on Feb 5. Don’t miss it!

February 22 - Ash Wednesday Service @ 6:00 p.m. in Sanctuary

February 26 - Retirement luncheon @ 2:30 p.m. for
Reverend Tempe' Fussell.

FPC Tiny Free Library
FPC invites you to visit the tiny library in front of the church sanctuary. You are encouraged to take a book as often as you like and then pass it on to someone else when you have finished it. A variety  of topics is available (fiction and non-fiction) and the library is stocked weekly with new selections.
The library was established in memory of former member, Martha Rainer, who served the church as an elder and chair person of the Christian Education team.

Worship

10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary
PLEASE NOTE
We are now worshiping every Sunday in our sanctuary. As long as our community is still experiencing illness and death from the Corona Virus, we will safe distance in our large sanctuary. We have been using our lovely Chapel, for smaller events and acoustical benefits. Therefore, things like concerts, weddings, Ash Wednesday Service and other events continue to find a home in our historic Chapel.
