Memorial Garden and Columbarium
First Presbyterian Church has erected and made available to those in the community who might like to use it, a columbarium. The Church maintains the columbarium and Memorial Garden at 100 White Oak St. in Franklin. |

FPC has a columbarium there that is in use. The columbarium is a granite structure for the repository of the cremains of those people who choose to be cremated. It is for the use of anyone in the community who purchases a niche and follows a few basic guidelines. The cost of a niche is $1000 and can hold the cremains of two people. Opening and closing the niche, installation of the nameplates and perpetual maintenance are all included in the cost. The bronze nameplates are not included but FPC can help arrange for the purchase of the nameplates. Purchases of a niche may be arranged by contacting the Church office.
FPC has a small historic cemetery located on the northside of White Oak St. Many years ago it was the church's "burying ground."
Inground burials are no longer permitted within the town limits.
The property is developed as a garden. Trees and shrubs are added as funds become available. This has resulted in a gradual changing appearance each year. Donations may be made to the committee as memorials for landscaping and improvements for the garden. Donations may be made for specific purposes in consultation with the committee. Donations should be specifically noted to be for the “Memorial Garden.”
